UNSER ZWEITER BESUCH IN AMROHA, INDIEN

Meine zweite Missionsreise nach Nordindien, um den Dienst von Pastor Sonu Singh zu besuchen, fand vom 16. bis 24. November 2012 statt, und dieses Mal begleitete mich meine Frau Christa. Nach einer 12-stündigen Reise über Abu Dhabi nach Neu-Delhi trafen wir Pastor Sonu und seine wundervolle Frau Pinky. Da wir um 3 Uhr morgens ankamen, war die 3-stündige Fahrt nach Amroha in der Provinz Uttar Pradesh viel weniger haarsträubend und auch viel leiser (kein Dauerhupen) als bei meinem ersten Besuch.

Am ersten Tag war noch keine Veranstaltung geplant, so dass wir eine Fahrt mit einem Rickshaw-Taxi in die Stadt unternahmen, um für Christa indische Bekleidung zu finden. Ich muss zugeben, dass die Kleidung durchweg so wunderschön war, dass es ziemlich schwierig war, das Beste für sie auszusuchen. Aber ich wusste, dass wenn ich sie nicht zügig aus dem Geschäft heraus bekommen würde, sie wohl noch das gesamte Sortiment aufkaufen würde! An dem Abend besuchten wir Pastor Sonus Eltern, und es war eine große Freude, sie nun das zweite Mal zu treffen. Nach etlichen Tassen (köstlichem) indischem Chai Tee fielen wir dann totmüde ins Bett. Als ich im August dort war, stieg die Temperatur bis auf 40°C an, und nachts schien es keinen Strom und damit auch keine Ventilation zu geben, so dass ich am Ende nassgeschwitzt war. Doch dieses Mal waren es angenehme 27 Grad . Das Duschen bestand auch dieses Mal darin sich Wasser über den Kopf zu giessen, und bevor die Sonne hochstand war das doch ein bisschen kalt! Die Toilette war für Christa eine neue Erfahrung, aber sie gewöhnte sich schnell an das in Keramik eingefasste „Loch im Boden“!

Am nächsten Tag nach dem Frühstück aus Rührei auf Brot und einer Menge Chai Tee, machten wir uns auf den Weg zur ersten evangelistischen Veranstaltung in der Stadt Bazpur. Die Fahrt dauerte 3 Stunden. Das mächtige Zelt war bereits am Vortag von Pastor Daniel Singh, einem Cousin von Sonu Singh, aufgerichtet worden. Als wir ankamen, erwartete uns ein riesiges Polizeiaufgebot, da einigen radikalen Hindus unsere Anwesenheit dort gar nicht gefiel! Nach einleitenden Worten und nachdem uns traditionell Blumenschmuck umgelegt worden war, sprachen eingige der Stadtältesten. Dann überrasc the man mich mit der Information, dass ich ganze 2 Minuten hätte, um zu den Menschen zu sprechen!

Da es möglicherweise einen Aufstand geben würde, erklärte mir Pastor Sonu, dass die  Stadtältesten uns baten zu gehen, dass wir aber am folgenden Tag wiederkommen und unsere Versammlung abhalten könnten. Christa und ich wurden regelrecht von dem Podium weggeschleift, doch einige Menschen drängten sich bis zu uns durch, so dass ich ihnen zumindest die Hände auflegen konnte. Fast wie jemand aus der Königsfamilie, wurde ich in den bereitstehenden Wagen geschoben, der dann mit Höchstgeschwindigkeit davonfuhr. Später hörte ich dann, dass die Frau von Pastor Daniel einen großen Stock drohend erhob mit den Worten, dass wenn die radikalen Hindus an irgendeinen von uns Hand anlegen wollten, sie erst an ihr vorbei müssten! Eindeutig eine Situation von “David vor dem Riesen”!

Am darauf folgenden Tag fuhren wir erneut nach Bazpur, und wieder gab es ein hohes Polizeiaufgebot am Zelt. Dieses Mal konnte ich die Gute Botschaft des Evangeliums verkünden, und nach kurzer Zeit beteten wir für die Kranken. Aber auch dieses Mal wurde ich nach nur 15 Minuten weggeholt und in ein wartendes Auto verfrachtet. Da die Polizei sich entschieden hatte zu gehen, beschloss Pastor Sonu aus Gründen unserer Sicherheit ebenfalls abzufahren. Diese Stadt hat noch nie zuvor den Namen Jesus Christus gehört, und wir waren die ersten Europäer, die dorthin kamen.  Ich habe nachträglich gehört, dass nach unseren Gebeten viele Wunder geschehen sind, und nun wollen die Stadtältesten, dass wir in der Zukunft wiederkommen. Wir glauben absolut, dass Gott uns die Tür zu diesen Menschen geöffnet hat, und dass in Kürze viele Personen errettet und Hauskirchen gegründet werden.

Der folgende Tag war zum Ausruhen gedacht, allerdings gab es keine Pause, weil wir ein paar Familien aufsuchten und im Endeffekt für viele Menschen beteten. An den beiden darauffolgenden Tagen fanden 2 Evangelisationsveranstaltungen in der Stadt Kalali statt, und das Team hatte bereits das Zelt und die Technik aufgebaut, und das Lobpreisteam stand bereit. Dies wurde dann sozusagen die Krönung, da nämlich mehr als 2.000 Menschen Jesus als ihren Herrn und Erlöser annahmen. Es geschahen Wunder und Heilungen, und ich war zutiefst überwältigt, als 5 Personen, die zuvor taub gewesen waren, anfingen zu hören! Ihre Gesichter sagten alles! Ein Junge, der stumm gewesen war, sprach sein erstes Wort, und das war: HALLELUJAH! Christa war sehr beschäftigt, denn wir beteten für jeden einzelnen aus der Menge persönlich. Es müssen pro Tag rund 4 Stunden gewesen sein, die wir für Menschen gebetet haben.

An unserem letzten Tag besuchten wir eine Familie in einer anderen Stadt, und es kamen viele Menschen, um uns zu sehen, wohl weil das Fernsehn ein Interview mit uns gemacht hatte und weil Artikel in der örtlichen Zeitung erschienen waren. Aber es war doch gut, dass wir in diese Stadt gefahren sind, denn Pastor Sonu berichtete mir, dass viele Hindus Heilung an ihrem Körper erfahren haben und wünschen, dass wir wiederkommen und eine Evangelisation dort abhalten.

Vielleicht fragst du dich, wie es mit all diesen Menschen weitergehen wird, die Jesus in ihr Leben aufgenommen haben.  Alle werden nachbetreut werden. Pastor Sonu wird an jedem dieser Orte eine Hauskirche starten, und Leuten seines Teams führen die Neubekehrten in die Jüngerschaft. Jede dieser Hauskirchen wird dann bald schon weitere Hauskirchen.  Ich fragte Pastor Sonu, ob er wisse, wie viele Menschen in der Zeit seines Dienstes bisher Jesus persönlich angenommen hätten. Demütig gab er mir die Zahl von 16.000 Seelen für Christus. Bei der GGB (Gemeindegründungs -Bewegung) kann man mit den Zahlen von neu gegründeten Hauskirchennicht  mithalten, und sie hat sich sowohl in anderen Teilen Indiens als auch der Welt als sehr effektiv herausgestellt.

Hauskirchen haben weniger Kosten zu decken, brauchen keine Gemeindehäuser zu bauen und keinen Pastor zu bezahlen. Als Gründer von „Salvation for Asia Ministries“ („Rettung für Asien“) hat Pastor Sonu jedoch viele Projekte und Nöte, die erfüllt werden müssten, damit der Dienst effektiv sein kann. Zur Zeit wohnt er zur Miete, und es gefällt dem Eigentümer gar nicht, dass da so viele Menschen ein- und ausgehen, und auch die täglichen lauten Gebetstreffen stören ihn. Also brauchen sie ein Missionshaus. Ausserdem müssen jedes Mal, wenn jemand sie besuchen kommt, oder sie in einer anderen Stadt einen größeren Einsatz machen, Taxis gemietet werden.  Es ist also notwendig einen Kleinbus und Motorräder anzuschaffen. Pastor Sonu gab mir nur sehr zögerlich eine Liste der benötigten Anschaffungen, doch bestand ich darauf, dass Leute darüber informiert sein müssen und wollen, wenn sie helfen sollen. Ein Punkt ist ein Generator, denn sie zeigen gerne den Jesus Film in Ortschaften, wo es keinen Strom gibt. Und dort, wo es Strom gibt, fällt er auch oft aus. Nachstehed findet Ihr die Liste, und ich bitte Euch, darüber zu beten, ob Ihr mithelfen könntet, dass einzelne Dinge angeschafft werden können. Leitet diesen Blog und die Auflistung der benötigten Sachen doch auch an Personen weiter, die vielleicht die Möglichkeit und das Interesse haben mitzuhelfen. Dafür sage ich im Voraus schon einmal vielen Dank!

Pastor Sonu Singh betet für die Kranken

Heute bin ich überzeugt davon, dass Pastor Sonu eine starke Grundlage für seinen Dienst gelegt hat und sein Team für Jesus brennt. Seine Vision erstreckt sich nicht nur auf Indien, sondern auf ganz Asien, und er hat sogar schon Pläne Nepal zu besuchen. In Matthäus 16, 1-12 gibt Jesus uns einen Test, an dem wir sehen können, ob wir eine klare geistliche Vision haben. Er nennt mehrere Merkmale, die eine geistlich blinde Person von einer die sehen kann, unterscheidet. Ich kann Euch sagen, dass Pastor Sonus Vision alle diese Merkmale erfüllt:

1. Die Vision ist darauf ausgerichtet anderen zu helfen.

2. Die Vision verherrlicht Gott.

3. Die Vision ist zukunftsorientiert.

4. Die Vision schlägt den Teufel.

5. Die Vision bringt Gottes Königreich voran.

Our 2nd Visit to Amroha India

My second mission to Northern India to visit the ministry of Pastor Sonu Singh took place from 16 November to 24 November 2012, and this time I was accompanied by my wife Christa.  After a 12 hour trip via Abu Dhabi to New Delhi, we were met by Pastor Sonu and his lovely wife Pinky.  Now we had a further 3 hour trip to the town of Amroha in the district of Utter Pradesh.   This was not such a hair-raising experience as my first visit (we arrived 3am) because with much traffic drivers  drive where they liked and their hands never seem to leave the car horn!

As nothing was arranged for the first day we took a Rickshaw ride into the town for Christa to purchase some Indian clothes.  I must admit all of them were so beautiful and it was difficult to choose which was best for her.  But I knew that if I didn't get her out of the shop, she would probably buy the whole stock!  That evening we visited the parents of Pastor Sonu, and what a joy it was for me to meet them the second time.   After many cups of Indian Chai tea (delicious) we collapsed into our beds truly worn out.   When I previously came in August temperatures reached 40o centigrade and electricity and with it the ventilation seemed to fail at night time which left me soaking in sweat, but this time it was a pleasant 27o Centigrade.   Again, bathing was throwing cold water over oneself and in the morning before the sun rose it was quite cold! Using the toilet was a new experience for Christa and she soon got used to the ceramic hole in the ground!

The next day after a scrambled egg sandwich breakfast and lots of Chai tea we left for our first crusade in the town of Bazpur, a journey of 3 hours away.   The massive tent had already been set up the day before by Pastor Daniel Singh – a cousin of Sonu Singh.    When we arrived there was a massive police presence as some radical Hindus did not want us there! After introductions and the flowers were hung over our necks, some of the town officials spoke and then I was surprised to be told I only had 2 minutes to speak!

Expecting a riot Pastor Sonu told me that the town officials asked us to leave and that we could come back the next day and hold our crusade.   Christa and I were literally hassled off the platform but people pushed forward so that I could lay my hands on them.   Almost like some royalty I was pushed into the waiting car and we drove off at top speed.  Later I had heard that the wife of pastor Daniel wielded a big stick, saying if any of the extremists Hindus wanted to lay their hands on any of us that they would have to pass by her first!  Definitely a David in front of a giant!

The following day we came back to Bazpur and again there was a heavy presence of police at the tent.  This time I was allowed to share the Gospel and soon we were praying for the sick, but once again after only 15 minutes of praying I was pulled away and shoved into the waiting car.   As all the police had decided to leave, Pastor Sonu decided for our own safety it was best to also leave.   This town has never heard of the name of Jesus Christ and we were the first Europeans to enter it.   I have since heard that there were many miracles that happened as we prayed and now the town officials want us to return in the future.  We truly believe that God has opened the door to these people and soon many will be saved and house churches established.

                                                               Worship!

The following day was a rest day, but we really did not get any rest as we visited some families and ended up praying for many people.  The next two days there was to be 2 crusades in the town on Kalali and the team had already set up the tent with sound equipment and a worship team.   This was to be the cream on the cake so to speak, as over 2,000 people received Christ as their Lord and Saviour.  Miracles and healings took place, and I was deeply impacted to see 5 people who were deaf being able to hear again.  The looks on their faces said it all.  One young boy who was dumb said his first word HALLELUJAH!  Christa was kept very busy praying as we gave everyone of the large crowd personal prayer.  On each of the days we must have spent at least 4 hours praying for these people.

On our last day we went to visit a family in another town and many people turned out to look at us.  After all, the television people had interviewed us as well as the local papers who each day had placed an article in their newspaper.  Try staying humble when so many people come up shaking your hands as though you were some holy guru!  But it was good that we went to this village as I heard from Pastor Sonu that many Hindus received healing to their bodies and want us to come back and hold a crusade.

You may be asking, what happens to all these people who have received Jesus Christ into their lives? They are all followed up.  Pastor Sonu starts a House Church in each town and they receive discipleship from members of his team.   Soon this House Church will start other House Churches.    I asked Pastor Sonu if he had any idea of how many people received Christ during his time of ministry and he humbly replied, maybe over 16,000 souls for Christ.  With CPM (Church Planting Movement) one cannot keep up with numbers of House Churches, and it has proved very effective in other parts of India and also the world.

With House Churches there is less expenses and no need to build church buildings or pay pastors.  However, Pastor Sonu is the founder of Salvation for Asia Ministries and has many projects that need to be fulfilled for the ministry to run effectively.    He is presently housed in a rented house and the owners are not very happy with so many visitors and the loud prayer meetings that he holds daily, so they need their own ministry house.  They also have to rent taxis each time people visit them or when they have a big outreach in another town, and therefore there is a need for a microbus and motorbikes.   Pastor almost seemed reluctant to give me a list of projects, but I insisted that people needed and wanted if they are to help to know what they were.   One of these was for a generator as they like to show the Jesus film in villages where there is no electricity, and even when there is electricity, many times they have blackouts.   I give a list of these below and would ask you to pray about helping to obtain these different articles, and even pass this Blog post and list to others who might be interested in helping.   We thank you in advance.

I am now convinced that Pastor Sonu has laid a strong foundation for his ministry and has a team that is on fire for Jesus.  His vision is not just for India, but for the whole of Asia and he already has plans to visit Nepal.  In Matthew 16:1-12, Jesus provides us with a test to determine if we have clear spiritual vision. He identified several characteristics that distinguish a spiritually blind person from one who can see.  I can tell you that Pastor Sonu's vision fulfills all these characteristics: 

1. The vision leads to helping others.

2. The vision glorifies God.

3. The vision is future focused.

4. The vision defeats the devil.

5. The vision advances God’s kingdom.

Newsletter October 2012

INDIA

An important part of ministry is always seeking the Lord to see if He has anything new for us to do for His Kingdom, and in the world there are multitudes of people who are lost, and God desires us to help them through the power of the Holy Spirit.  In our last newsletter, I wrote in great detail about my first trip to India.  It was a deeply impacting experience both on a human level and most of all spiritually.     After my return to Germany (I travelled from Germany to India), I met with our mission’s director Brad Thurston and his co-workers Andres and Eddi, in order to share with them about my trip to India.  Without exception, they were all thrilled and gave me their support for our future work in India.  And so Christa and I are convinced that God Himself opened a door for us to work in North India together with a local pastor and his team to “preach the gospel to the poor, to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed and to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.” (Luke 4:18-19).

When visiting the mission’s centre I was recommended several books, and so I am now reading a book on the Church Planting Movement, and I am familiarizing myself with the art of storytelling, a valuable and important tool to reach people who cannot read or write.  I believe it is important to understand any culture before sharing the Gospel hence I am also learning how “crucial Christian truths and concepts like sin and redemption etc. can be “translated” into a non-western culture.   I thank our Globe leadership team for their help.

Since my conversion over 20 years ago, I have a burning desire to see people saved.  That is what God has called and equipped me to do, and I will not stop telling people about God, the forgiveness of sin and about Jesus, and I expect signs and wonders to follow the preaching of the Gospel.   Christa and I will return on 16^th November for one week and we will hold 4 crusades and also inaugurate the jungle church shown in the photo below.

GUATEMALA

Our work in Guatemala and our devotion to the people and the community remain the same, and our hearts beat for Guatemala, so please continue to support us in our work here.  This month is and has been a busy month.   Twice a year we challenge our cell groups to run an evangelistic program to attract people.   Christa’s cell group ran a film night and I helped out by showing “Heavens Gates and the Flame of Hell.” which impacted quite a few people.   In this cell group two people gave their lives to Christ and two were reconciled, and our other 26 cell groups also won souls for the Lord.   Hallelujah!    Later this month we will run two Weekend Encounters for the new converts both men and women, which always requires a lot of spiritual and practical preparation.  At the end of the month will start the next discipleship course for all the new converts.   Immediately after our trip to India and Germany I will restart our Prayer Station on Saturdays as it will be the dry season.

Less than a year ago our grandson was fighting for his life having been born premature and weighing only 2 pounds.  He now weighs over 17 pounds, has 2 teeth and is a joy to have around our house.   He laughs a lot and his doctor is more than pleased with his health.   We want to thank all of you once again for helping to pay the hospital bills.
